 Golden Corral / EASTON Softball opened the 2006 season with a trip to Salem , VA for the Salem Kickoff Classic to get a few swings in before heading to Tennessee next weekend.  In the pool play, GC opened up against Sports-n-More.  The Corral controlled the game the whole way to take the game 22-7.  Next up, Golden Corral met CiCi’s Pizza.  This game went much like the first one as GC rolled to a 23-9 win.  A 2-0 record in the pool play gave GC a first place seed in the double elimination bracket play event.  After coming out with a strong victory in their first game of the double elimination round, Sports-n-More got another shot at The Corral.  This time, the score was a bit closer, but GC got the upper hand again and won it 19-10.  Wildlife Taxidermy won the other pool play and, after they finished off CiCi’s, met Golden Corral in the undefeated game.  GC got on top and stayed there for the 18-8 win.  Wildlife was not done, however, as they rolled up some big runs versus Sports-n-More for the chance to knock off GC.  They could not match The Corral on this day, however, as GC cruised to a 27-16 win.
